Case Study: My Experience With Animals

Things You Must Know About Wildlife Conservation and Animal Protection

Even though it is a relief to hear that more and more people are realizing the importance and value of conserving the world’s natural resources, it still is sad to hear that only a handful are dead serious and committed on protecting the animals and wildlife of this very same world we live in. You probably are pretty much aware about us doing stuff that destroy the environment, i.e. mining, deforestation, industry pollution, and the like; but what you’re not really paying that much attention to is the welfare of the animals and wildlife sharing the same environment and world with us.

Whether the talk is about domesticated animals or pets that we give extra effort to take care or animals that live and breed out there in the wild, the one thing that everyone must understand right now is that they’ve all become prone to some type of abuse. Fortunately, there has been a significant increase on the number of organizations, most of which are non-profit, that cater the need of protecting animals from getting wiped out of the face of the earth. Some of these organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States are taking an aggressive approach towards animal protection, and in doing so they are taking people responsible for animal abuse to court while at the same time lobbying in various governments and jurisdictions to help in fighting animal abuse.

While the work of the HSUS is a non-profit group bent on promoting animal welfare, some groups with the same noble intention focus on a different aspect of animal protection, which in this case is wildlife conservation. Generally speaking, wildlife conservation covers the broad area of protecting endangered animals and plant species, as well as the environment they live in, or so we call it their habitat.

The entire concept of wildlife conservation is to preserve what’s left of the planet for the future generations to use and survive with. And while animal protection has this aggressive approach towards those who abuse and kill animals, wildlife conservation is more on raising awareness, more specifically on the importance of wildlife.

Though it’s sad to realize that not every government out there is active or even willing to promote wildlife conservation areas, the positive thing is that there still are some that have recently been very active in terms of creating policies that focus on the protection of animals in their respective jurisdictions.

In the end, the protection of animals and wildlife conservation are two concepts that might differ in some aspects, but still are undeniably linked to one goal: for humans to survive for more generations to come. It may be true that the earth is a dying planet, so the least we could do is at least contribute in slowing down that process as much as possible.
